August Playlist: Rocker Chick Energy

August is here, the temperatures are still climbing, and the Engsta Rides playlist is getting louder.

Every month, I put together a playlist filled with songs that have been stuck in my head, playing in the garthere'age, or cranked up during a drive. This month’s playlist leans heavily toward a group of artists I like to call Rocker Chicks.

That doesn’t mean every song fits neatly into the same genre. It’s about the energy—the kind of music that is bold, dark, emotional, and completely unapologetic. These are voices that demand your attention and tracks that deserve to be played loud.

The full August playlist has plenty to dig into, but these are three of the songs that stood out as my personal favorites.

“Tell Me Lies” — Aya Thorn

The title alone lets you know this probably isn’t going to be a sweet little love song. It has a dark, edgy attitude that immediately pulls you in and helps set the tone for this month’s playlist.

This is the kind of track that feels right when the sun goes down, the roads open up, and you finally get a chance to clear your head. It carries that slightly dangerous energy that makes you want to turn the volume up one more notch and keep driving.

“Tell Me Lies” doesn’t politely ask for your attention—it takes it. That attitude is exactly why it became one of my favorites from the August playlist.

“Bitter End” — Ana Eclipse

There is something about a song with a title like “Bitter End” that makes you want to know the entire story. It sounds like trouble before the first note even hits—and sometimes those are the best songs.

This track brings emotion, attitude, and just enough rebellion to make it a perfect addition to the Engsta Rides rotation. It has the kind of energy that belongs on a late-night drive when you have nowhere particular to be and no reason to head home just yet.

Sometimes music is just background noise. Other times, it becomes the soundtrack to whatever is happening in your life. “Bitter End” feels like the second kind, and it easily earned a spot among my favorites.

“Crawl” — In This Moment

My third featured pick is a brand-new song from one of my favorite bands: In This Moment with “Crawl.” I have been a fan for a long time, so anytime they release something new, I am ready to turn it up and see where they take us next.

“Crawl” delivers the darkness, power, and theatrical intensity that make In This Moment stand apart. Maria Brink has a way of bringing beauty, aggression, and raw emotion together in one performance—and she once again proves why she is one of the most recognizable voices in modern rock.

This is not music meant to sit quietly in the background. It is big, dramatic, and built to take over the speakers. For me, “Crawl” is one of the must-hear tracks on this month’s playlist.
